A new line of indexable tooling will be available across New Zealand from the beginning of April.

Dormer Pramet has officially launched its Pramet range, offering a comprehensive program of turning, milling and hole-making inserts and holders for, primarily, the general engineering sector.

The company was created in 2014 following the merger of cutting tool specialists Dormer Tools and Pramet Tools. Its combined product assortment now encompasses indexable tools – marketed under the Pramet brand – alongside the established Dormer range of rotary tools.

To support the introduction into New Zealand, Dormer Pramet has appointed Southern Cutting Technology (SCT) Ltd as the exclusive supplier of both its Dormer and Pramet assortments in the country.

Based in Christchurch, SCT will hold substantial stock of both brands to support next day delivery of key lines into most areas of the North and South Islands.

Andrew Sherry, regional business area manager for New Zealand, says, “Dormer’s round tool specialization and Pramet’s expertise in the design and production of indexable inserts complement each other extremely well.

“Our core programs are built around a range of products designed for the general machining industry. It will mean customers throughout New Zealand now have access to a greatly enhanced product portfolio.

“SCT is one of the leading cutting tool distributors in New Zealand and have an established reputation within the industry. We believe this partnership will allow us to better support businesses across the country.”

As well as a stronger product line up, Dormer Pramet places significant emphasis on the development of its ‘value added services’.

In keeping with this tradition, the launch of Pramet is supported by product publications in both hard copy and electronic format, including an interactive app which is free to download from iTunes and Google Play.

Andrew says, “With the Pramet indexable brand we can offer a ‘one stop shop’ for all customers tooling requirements whilst also continuing to provide the crucial support and reliable service our customers have come to expect from us over the years.

“From products that perform consistently, to experienced technical backup from our engineers, customers know they can trust us to deliver.”

Dormer Pramet has 30 offices worldwide, including Auckland, serving 100 countries, ensuring it has truly global coverage.
